BirdCallsRadio: Richard Crossley #2
Here is the archive of Sunday’s show with Richard Crossley, author of The Crossley ID Guide. Richard reflects on the feedback he has received on his unique book since the last time he was guest on Bird Calls Radio back in April 2011. He also discusses several other books that will follow.
Richard also talks about a Global Bird Initiative, Pledge to Fledge, whereby birdwatchers will bring along non-birders for a day in the field looking at birds. Richard is interested in getting more people involved with birdwatching and this is just one way he is helping to do that.
Mardi Dickinson joins the conversation with Richard and adds interesting commentary to the first part of the show when I discuss fish crows and American crows, bald eagle hunting, spring migration, American Woodcock ( Timberdoodles) looking back on birding and rarities in New England. Joe Warren of Wild Birds Unlimited in Darien, Conn., and Bedford Hills, N.Y., talks about migration and robins.
Here again are the full details of the contest: Richard asked a question during the early part of the show and then answer the question at the end of the show. Then those listeners 18 years old and younger (parental help is OK, as long as the winner is 18 or younger) should click on “contact me,” and email me the answer. I’ll plug the entrants into a computer program that will randomly pick the winner. Good Luck. The deadline to enter the contest will be Wednesday, March 21.
