Bird Calls Bird of the Day for July 15
I’ve been concentrating on the big birds of New England for the last few Birds of Day. Let’s downsize a bit for today’s Bird of the Day.
The American robin is one of the most ubiquitous birds in New England during the summer. They have several broods each spring/summer and by the fall, our lawns are covered with robins — not that I’m complaining.
Robins are considered traditional harbingers of spring, but is that true? Not really. Some robins remain in New England throughout the winter, although they are obviously not seen as often. But, after a long winter, it certainly is nice to see robins hopping along the yard again.
