Clay Taylor, the Naturalist Market Manager at Swarovski Optik, NA, will be the next guest on Bird Calls Radio live from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15.

Clay grew up in Moodus, Connecticut, and started birdwatching while in college at Rochester, N.Y. He joined the Mattabeseck Audubon in Middletown, Connecticut, in 1975 and served as president of that organization. He was on the first CT Rare Records Committee and was the founder and first president of the CT Butterfly Association.

He also worked as a naturalist for Hammonassett Beach State Park.

After 32 years of birding in Connecticut, he had a yard list of 143 species and state list of 354 species. He then moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, in the summer of 2008. “I traded Blue Jays for Green Jays, and the yard list after 3 1/2 years stands at 212 species, including 22 species of raptors,” he said.

He is currently the Naturalist Market Manager at Swarovski Optik N. A., which means “I fly around the country showing birders great birds through great binoculars.  I do a LOT of Digiscoping, giving workshops and online advice,” he said.

Should be a great show, which will be live on Sunday. Tune into 1490AM WGCH locally or click “Listen Live” above for WORLDWIDE STREAMING. Thanks for your support of Bird Calls Radio. Call in to ask a question for Clay or Chris directly at 203-661-5051.
