Twan Leenders next guest on Bird Calls Radio
Twan Leenders, a reptile and amphibian specialist as well as the Connecticut Audubon Society’s conservation biologist, will be the next guest on Bird Calls Radio — coming up Sunday, Jan. 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. on 1490 WGCH.
It promises to be a lively discussion about Connecticut’s reptiles (what do they do in the winter?), the state’s venomous snakes, his travels as a biologist (he used to live in a tree house!), and the Audubon Society’s current conservation efforts.
Twan was born and raised in The Netherlands where he completed his doctoral degree in Biology, specializing in Animal Ecology. Since the early 1990s, he has worked (and lived) in various countries in Central American and Tropical Africa to study amphibians and reptiles, primarily focusing on the precipitous decline in amphibian populations worldwide. After moving to the USA in 2001, Twan has been working in the Department of Vertebrate Zoology of Yale University’s Peabody Museum of Natural History and he was an assistant professor in the Department of Biology of Sacred Heart University.
Twan is currently Connecticut Audubon Society’s conservation biologist and manages the organization’s conservation, habitat management and biological research projects.
The show will also include a discussion with Joe Warren, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Darien, CT, and Bedford Hills, N.Y.
Tune in Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. on 1490 WGCH, or “Listen Live” above. Thanks for your support of Bird Calls Radio.
