The tree sparrow is one of many small brown sparrows people often refer to as LBJs (little brown jobs). Many birders struggle with sparrow identification — and for good reason. Many are very similar looking and it takes a trained eye to pick out the identification marks.
This tree sparrow found itself a tasty green treat while scouring the ground in early spring.
