James Currie, the host of Birding Adventures TV, will be the next guest on Bird Calls Radio, airing 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, on 1490 WGCH or “Listen Live” above.

Currie’s enthusiasm for birds and conservation has led him to be one of the few birders who can claim to have their own television show.

Currie is a native of South Africa and has travelled around the world seeking adventures in burding. We’ll be sure to ask him about a hummingbird he and his crew taped in South America. It is believed to be either a species not seen in more than 100 years, or a new species altogether.

We’ll also talk about his favorite places to birdwatch _ and he’s been all around the world doing this. I’ll be sure to ask him about the other wildlife he encounters on his adventures. Currie, a former bird tour leader, also likes to mingle with the local community when he’s filming at a location.

He is also an expert in the field of sustainable development. From 2004-2007, Currie worked as the Managing Director of Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization that directs its efforts towards the upliftment of communities surrounding wildlife areas in Africa.

Don’t miss this exciting show. As always, thanks for your support of Bird Calls Radio.
