Don Riepe, the guardian of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refugue, will be the guest on Saturday’sBird Calls Radio show, which airs each Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m.

Riepe will discuss the upcoming Jamaica Bay Shorebird Festival, of which he will be one of the leaders. He will also discuss shorebird identification and other birds that frequent Jamaica Bay, a park with the New York City skyline as a backdrop and Kennedy International Airport nearby. Shorebird watching peaks there in August. Riepe, a long-time naturalist, will discuss his early days in nature and offer tips on getting today’s youth outdoors.

Joe Warren of Wild Birds Unlimited in Darien and Bedford Hills, N.Y., talks about keeping your feeders clean during the hot summer months and talks more about attracting hummingbirds.
