Darien Land Trust to hold fundraiser at Nielsen's
I am a proud board member of the Darien Land Trust in Darien, Ct. The Darien Land Trust will hold its second St. Patrick’s Day celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Nielsen’s Florist and Garden Shop.
The event will include raffles, silent auctions, great food and drink and, of course, terrific company _ all for a good cause and all for just $20. You can’t get an appetizer and drink for $20 these days, let alone a whole night of food, drink and entertainment.
Wild Birds Unlimited in Darien, the main sponsor of Bird Calls Radio, had donated a bird house for the auction. There will be other items up for bid as well. Also, throughout the day Nielsen’s will donate 20 percent of its sales to the Darien Land Trust.
Members of the Darien High School Eco-Citizens will also be on hand. The Darien Land Trust has a valued partnership with that wonderful group.
The Darien Land Trust has a mission of preserving open space and either owns or has easements for 191 acres in Darien. Without open space, many of our prized birds will disappear. The event is open to all. Come out and support a good cause. Tickets _ remember only $20 _ are available at the door. Nielsen’s is located at 1405 Post Road, off Exit 11 of I-95.
