Kelly Fuller of American Bird Conservancy talks wind power on next BirdCallsRadio

Kelly Fuller in South Dakota

Kelly Fuller, Wind Campaign Coordinator at American Bird Conservancy, in South Dakota.

BirdCallsRadio will tackle the issue of wind power and its impact on birds on our next show, coming up this Sunday (July 1) from 1 to 2 p.m. on 1490 WGCH or worldwide at “Listen Live” above. Be sure to tune in to this important and compelling BirdCallsRadio show.

We will have a discussion with Kelly Fuller, the Wind Campaign Coordinator at American Bird Conservancy, about wind power and its potential devastating effects on birds. It is a hot topic in the bird world and Kelly will answer a lot of questions about the controversial and often confusing matter. Like many bird organizations, ABC is not against wind power, but wants it to be done in a manner that is bird and wildlife friendly.

Direct from ABC: “American Bird Conservancy, which believes that wind energy can be bird-smart, but only if it is carefully sited, operated, mitigated, monitored, and compensated for, including redress for bird deaths and bird habitat that is lost or degraded.”

The show will be timely, too, as ABC this week sued federal agencies over failure to disclose correspondence with the wind industry.

Fuller is originally from southern California and her work has taken her to the Midwest, the Great Plains, and the East Coast.

She came to American Bird Conservancy from Plains Justice, an environmental law center that helps northern plains communities transition to clean energy. At Plains Justice, she worked to protect nature and local communities from new coal-fired power plants and the Keystone XL pipeline.

In Minnesota, she worked to protect Voyageurs National Park, one of America’s premier national parks in the north woods.

In California, she was the San Diego Sierra Club’s wind-energy representative and led their efforts to avoid the siting of wind farms in areas where there would be severe impacts on wildlife and habitat.

Thanks for your support of BirdCallsRadio. Be sure to tune in Sunday.
