Tom Andersen will be the next guest on Bird Calls Radio, coming to you live from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, on 1490am WGCH or “listen live” above at that time.

Andersen is the author of “This Fine Piece of Water: An Environmental History of Long Island Sound, (Yale University Press).  The fascinating book, published about 10 years ago, takes a thorough historical look at Long Island Sound concentrating on the water’s environmental history. The Sound, due to its location, is constantly under threat by development, pollution and other challenges. Andersen will discuss the importance of the water and need to keep it environmentally safe.

Andersen, a Pound Ridge, N.Y., resident, works as a fundraising and communications consultant for non-profits, including Connecticut Audubon Society, the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation, Connecticut Fund for the Environment and the New Canaan Historical Society. He was previously with Westchester Land Trust and also spent 17 years as a newspaper reporter, during which he covered extensively issues dealing with Long Island Sound.
