Visitors to the yard

White-tailed deer by Chris Bosak (copyright, all rights reserved)

These two guys have been hanging out in my neighborhood (including my yard at times) for a few weeks. There’s a four-pointer and a six-pointer and they travel together. They are very large and healthy looking. A lot of times a deer will venture into the yard and it will look skinny and have bumps and scraps all over it. These guys are full-bodied and healthy — ready for the rut.

A lot of people don’t like deer in their yard because they eat their plants, but these bucks are welcome anytime as far as I’m concerned. (By the way, anybody have any extra hostas? Mine are eaten down to the dirt.)

Be sure to check out Bird Calls every Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. on WSTC/WNLK AM1400/1350 (in S. CT and nearby NY) or https://birdcallsradio.com/listen-live/ from anywhere in the world (where there’s Internet access, that is.) Thanks for checking in.
