James Currie, soon-to-be-guest on BirdCallsRadio, to speak in NYC Monday

James Currie

James Currie, host of Birding Adventures TV, will be the guest speaker at The Explorer’s Club lecture series on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at the club’s headquarters in New York City.

Currie is also slated to be a Bird Calls Radio guest in the very near future. Keep an ear out for that exciting show.

Monday’s event with Currie in NYC will start at 7 p.m., with check-in starting at 6 p.m.

Currie is a native of South Africa and has travelled around the world seeking adventures in burding. His talk Monday will deal in part about a hummingbird he and his crew taped in South America. It is believed to be either a species not seen in more than 100 years, or a new species altogether.

He is also an expert in the field of sustainable development. From 2004-2007, Currie worked as the Managing Director of Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization that directs its efforts towards the upliftment of communities surrounding wildlife areas in Africa.

Tickets are $20 each for those who are not members of The Explorer’s Club.

Reservations are encouraged at a first-com, first-served basis, by calling (212) 628-8383 or emailing reservations@explorers.org

While Currie is a future guest on Bird Calls Radio, Dr. John Fitzpatrick, the director of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, was the guest on Sunday’s show. We discusses at length the Great Backyard Bird Count, which will take place Friday through Monday of this coming week. Keep an eye out for that archive, coming soon to BirdCallsRadio.com
